Two-story, brick and timber 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with generous-sized office, living/dining room with fireplace and a large, fully-equipped kitchen with lots of cupboards, dishwasher and laundry with Whirlpool washer and dryer. The house is set on a large, nicely landscaped lot with raised, brick flower and vegetable beds. Also, two covered patios, one with bar-b-que and wood storage cubicles.
Located in Parque Shambhala, a small, exclusive, gated ‘ conjunto ‘ ( now in its’ 10th year ) consisting of 6 houses and a caretaker’s cottage. The setting is pastoral and very quiet with beautiful views but only a 5-minute walk to the nearest shops, local buses and a 10-minute walk to the main Cotacachi market, Main Street, gym, etc. . Local taxis usually arrive within 2-3 minutes.
The house’s interior consists of a large master suite occupying the entire second floor with a glassed-enclosed lanai, cathedral beamed ceiling bedroom with built-in closet; a large bathroom with double vanity sinks, hydro-therapeutic Jacuzzi, separate shower stall. The suite has large picture windows with distant views.
Downstairs has another master suite (or a 2nd and 3rd bedroom) with bedroom, sitting room and tiled bath, The house is ideally-suited for a family or two couples, each couple having a private master suite and sharing the office, living/dining and kitchen. Set in Cotacachi’s premier gated-community consisting of 6 houses and a superintendant’s ‘ casita’ , Parque Shambhala is known for its’ views, tranquility, lush gardens and impeccable service, Casa 6 in Parque Shambhala is an American architectural design known as a California Ranch House built with Ecuadorian materials and labor.
Casa 6 is comprised of 2 bedrooms, each with a walk-in dressing room/closet, followed by a floor-to-ceiling tiled bath. There is a half- bath off the living room, as well.
A small den/office has a land-line telephone, high-speed DSL cable and a flat-screen television with CNT cable service offering more than 90 channels of television.
The living room has a ‘ kiva’-style fireplace and the dining room seats 6-8 and has, as does every room in the house, a large picture window overlooking either the Cotacachi or Imbabura Volcanoes.
The completely-tiled, corner kitchen has double views, all American appliances ( Frigidaire dishwasher,etc.). There is a separate, tiled laundry room / pantry off the kitchen which has a Whirlpool washer and dryer.
The entire house has cathedral, beamed ceilings and skylights.
House #6 is on a generous-sized corner lot which allows for partial fencing for pets and large unfenced area for the garden surrounding the house. In the back yard there is a lovely brick patio ( with beautiful views of the Cotacachi Volcano) extending from the back door of the house to the bar-b-que outdoor pavilion which has a Spanish tile roof covered in bright bugambilia and cubicles below for storage and pet shelter in case of a sudden rain or outdoor nighttime sleeping.

A gracious, airy, Spanish/Mediterranean-style house consisting of 3 large, high-ceiling bedrooms, 2 tiled baths and an extra-large living/dining ‘sala’ with 6 French doors opening onto 2 large, tiled patios flanking each side of the living room. One patio has a 55-ft. lap/exercise pool flanked by a 60 ft. pergola supported by 6 large white columns.
All 3 bedrooms have fireplaces, picture windows and French doors opening onto the patios. There is a third, step-down patio that has a 4-tiered European-style stone fountain with recirculating pump. There are a total of 5 fireplaces and 8 skylights. With all the picture windows, French doors and skylights, the house is full of light – even more so being directly on the Equator.
The kitchen has an American-style corner banquette breakfast nook; built-in laundry cabinetry with an LG washer and dryer. There is a central island; a Frigidaire dishwasher and an over-sized double door refrigerator /freezer. All countertops, the island top, the breakfast nook table top and the laundry cabinet top have matching granite surfaces. The kitchen also has custom wrought-iron, decorative grillwork. Casa Shambhala is behind its’ own gates and is located inside a gated-community ‘ Casas y Jardines San Miguel ‘, the premier gated-community in Cotacachi, Ecuador. The house is extremely private, being surrounded by 15 ft. walls and hedges on all sides., but the local volcanos and mountain ranges can still be seen from the picture windows and patios of the house.

Casa Shambhala’s owner has architectural and interior design awards and the house has been featured in Conde-Nast’s 13-language European edition of ‘ Marie Claire ‘; in ‘ Clave ‘, the premier architectural and interior design magazine in Ecuador. It has been on Ecua-TV ( Ecuadorian television) and was the principal setting for an Italian documentary film that won first place at the 29 th Annual Trieste Film Festival in Trieste, Italy and acquired and released worldwide by RAI (Italian State Television).
